Dear LPAA Parents,
After much consideration, the LPAA have made the decision to cancel the remaining portion of the LPAA basketball season. We are sorry that the season has to come to such an abrupt end, but as a community-based organization the health and welfare of our greater community is of utmost importance and cancelling these activities will help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
While we understand the disappointment that the kids may have with this decision, the LPAA do not wish to put children in a position to get infected, and hope you can understand and share our concern.
With respect to reimbursement for an incomplete season, we will be providing a refund of 50% of the registration fee.
Finally, a big thanks to all the parents that supported each of the basketball divisions by helping out with the teams! The LPAA depends on volunteers to operate each of our community sports and all your support ensures each of the LPAA leagues will continue to be a bug successful.
LPAA offers a winter basketball program for boys and girls ages 8 to 13. We strive to have a fun league where all players can improve their skills and learn the game of basketball.
Each team meets for one hour each week on the day identified in the age groups tabs below. The first part of the hour consists of skills practice and the latter portion of the hour consists of a game. Teams do not meet at any other times.
For the 2020 season, games will be held on Monday evenings at Blythwood PS, or Tuesday evenings at York Mills CI.
Only ONE friend request will be accommodated - and it must be mutual.
You will also be required to provide your child's approximate skill level on the registration. (Below Average, Average, or Above Average). Please be honest when assessing your child's skill, otherwise uneven teams will result.
Teams may be re-balanced after the first or second games to ensure that games are competitive.
As with previous years - we are looking for parents of registered players to assist with coaching. The goal is to match up 2 assistant coaches to share the duties.
Coaches will contact participants and/or parents with their team schedule prior to the first game If you don’t receive any communication on your child's team schedule within 7 days of the start of the season, please contact the league convener by email to email@example.com.
We are looking forward to a very exciting season of LPAA basketball!
